Job Summary
We are seeking a CAD/BIM Technician/Analyst with a heavy focus on architectural data/floor plans and 3D modeling. The ideal candidate will have advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit, with demonstrated experience using the Autodesk AEC Collection in a professional production environment. You will serve as an experienced team member for generating BIM and CAD from LiDAR scans, ensuring high-fidelity spatial alignment and schema integrity for digital twin applications and importing the same into an ArcGIS environment. While GIS knowledge is a key secondary skill, your core expertise must be rooted in architectural drafting, BIM modeling, and the technical workflows of the Autodesk suite.
Position Responsibilities
- Utilize the Autodesk AEC Collection to manage, edit, and prepare complex architectural and engineering datasets for downstream GIS integration.
- Serve as an experienced team member for AutoCAD and Revit workflows, including BIM/CAD creation from LiDAR scans, floor plan cleanup, layer standardization, and 3D model management.
- Cleanup and standardization of AutoCAD (DWG) and Revit (RVT) files for integration into the ArcGIS Indoors information model.
- Extract and map CAD/BIM layers (walls, doors, windows, units) to align with GIS features, ensuring strict adherence to Facilities, Levels, and Units schemas of Indoors.
- Participate in BIM-to-GIS lifecycles, including the attribution of architectural elements for indoor routing networks and asset management.
- Participate in the development of automated workflows for CAD-to-GIS data conversion using ArcGIS Pro tools and ETL processes.
- Conduct rigorous QA/QC on architectural datasets to identify and resolve drafting errors, topological gaps, or overlapping geometries.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and GIS analysts to establish CAD standards that streamline the transition from design to digital twin.
- Stay at the forefront of AEC and GIS integration trends, specifically regarding Esri and Autodesk interoperability.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, GIS, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of professional experience with AutoCAD and Revit as primary work tools, specifically focused on floor plan management and architectural detailing.
- Demonstrated experience using the Autodesk AEC Collection in a professional production environment.
- Deep understanding of architectural drafting standards, BIM levels of development (LOD), and architectural layering standards (AIA or similar).
- Demonstrated expertise in georeferencing CAD data and managing BIM-to-GIS interoperability within ArcGIS Pro.
- Excellent problem-solving skills regarding data geometry, coordinate systems, and schema mapping.
- Ability to communicate technical CAD and BIM requirements to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred
- Proficiency with ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Enterprise (end user), with specific experience in ArcGIS Indoors workflows.
- Familiarity with the Esri-Autodesk partnership and tools like the ArcGIS for AutoCAD plugin.
- Knowledge of geospatial data standards, coordinate systems, and projections.
Preferred Software Experience
- AutoCAD (Advanced/Expert)
- Revit / BIM 360 (Advanced)
- ArcGIS Pro & ArcGIS Indoors
- FME (Safe Software) or Data Interoperability Extension
- ArcPy or Python for automation
- ArcGIS Online & Experience Builder
- BIM 360 / Autodesk Construction Cloud
